Harvard's Black Hole Initiative (BHI) is the first worldwide center to focus on the study of black holes.

The Black Hole Initiative (BHI) is an interdisciplinary center at Harvard University involving a collaboration between Principal Investigators (PIs) from the fields of Astronomy (Sheperd Doeleman, Avi Loeb and Ramesh Narayan), Physics (Andrew Strominger), Mathematics (Shing-Tung Yau) and Philosophy (Peter Galison).

Avi Loeb
Abraham (Avi) Loeb is the Frank B. Baird, Jr., Professor of Science at Harvard University. Chair of Harvard's Department of Astronomy, Founding Director of Harvard's Black Hole Initiative and Director of the Institute for Theory and Computation within the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
